Shalom Jewish signers:

WOMAN WHO HID ANNE FRANK DIES:

Miep Gies, the woman who helped hide Anne Frank and recovered her diary,
died Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Netherlands at the age of 100.

Gies was the last surviving member of the small group that hid Anne
Frank and her family from the Nazis. After the arrest of the Frank
family by the Gestapo in 1944, Gies returned to the attic where they had
been hiding and found the diary.

"Miep Gies was a beacon of light during the dark days of the Holocaust,"
said Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder and dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
"Without her, the world would never have known about Anne Frank and
hundreds of millions of people would never have been inspired by her
story."

Shalom Jewish signers:

ZOA: CARTER A "LIAR"

The Zionist Organization of America has labeled Jimmy Carter a "liar."
Carter recently apologized to the Jewish community for any offense he
might have caused by negative remarks about Israel, but the ZOA says the
former president continues to make "false statements" against the Jewish
state.

The ZOA noted that "on the same day he supposedly apologized," an op-ed
piece by Carter in the London Guardian urged recognition and legitimacy
for the Hama terrorist organization.

The ZOA called on the Anti-defamation League, Simon Wiesenthal Center
and the National Jewish Democratic Committee to withdraw their support
for Carter's apology.

ZOA President Morton Klein said that "a careful reading of Jimmy
Carter's supposed apology reveals that in fact he retracts not a single
one of his hostile words and deeds against Israel over three decades,
but on the contrary reaffirms the correctness.

"Now he adds insult to injury by purporting to have apologized for his
hostile words and deeds while continuing to add to their number. The
former president's cynicism knows no bounds."

Dear Hartmut,

I was advised by an eye doctor to need a surgery due to cataract. He wanted me to have more tests.

In your parents’ or grandparents’ day, cataract was considered risky, required a lengthy hospital stay, and was usually postponed for as long as possible.

Today, cataract surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure and takes only minutes. Patients can then go home and rest in comfort and avoid the inconvenience and expense of staying in a hospital.

I am lucky.

Shalom,

Leon N. Goodman

P.S.

Some people thought I had a LASIK procedure. Ha!

I am wondering that that my right eye surgery scheduled on October 22nd was successfully done. I now view clear things around without glasses for five (5) weeks. It is very normal. The eye doctor is a very good doctor. My family wanted to protect me.

There will be a next eye surgery on left next month.

I still pray.

5. War or Peace?
    Posted by: "Goodman, Leon" Lgoodman@mbta.com
Date: Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:08 am ((PST))

January 26, 2010

Shalom Jewish signers:

WAR OR PEACE?

Former Member of The Knesset writes:

When talk in Israel persists about the need to respond to terror attacks
and building protective fences to thwart dangerous infiltrators, how can
we seriously believe in peace negotiations?

Despite pressure to negotiate with our enemies, the current situation
appears to resemble war, not peace.

Southern Israel has experienced an escalation violence, as Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reports that more than 20 rockets and mortar
shells were fired in the last two (2) weeks from Gaza at the western
Negev and Ashkelon. While the Israeli Air Force bombed targets
throughout Gaza, Netanyahu strongly warned that Israeli retaliation
would continue in swift fashion.

So as diplomatic pressure on Israel continues, terror attacks against
the Jewish state increase.

Netanyahu has approved the construction of a security fence along the
Egyptian border. This billion shekel plus construction is expected to
take two years to build. Unlike the security fence separating Israel
from Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, the current lack of similar security on
the Egyptian border has permitted 100-200 drug dealers, weapons
smugglers and terrorists to infiltrate into Israel, according to police.
Over time, tens of thousands of illegal residents have flooded into
Israel.

The plan for fencing off the southern part of Israel calls for the
building of a wall and the deployment of technological devices. The
first stages are slated to take place south of Gaza and north of Eilat.

Meanwhile, Israeli defense officials discussed an expected future
conflict with Hamas whereby Israel would take control of the Philadelphi
Corridor in southern Gaza, currently lined with hundreds of
weapons-smuggling tunnels. Israel military experts believe that since
the end of Operation Cast Lead, Hamas has greatly increased its military
capabilities.

With all this warlike news in the air, how can so many countries
continue exercising pressure on Israel to agree to partake in so-called
peace talks?

With very little hope for worthwhile peace talks in the near future, we
turn to Hashem for help during these troubling times.

Hashem in Hebrew means Lord in English.

Shalom,

Leon N. Goodman

Interestinginformation-Jill

Advice from an Israeli Agent - AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ.

Juval Aviv was the Israeli Agent upon whom the movie 'Munich' wasbased. He was Golda Meir's bodyguard, and she appointed him to track down andbring to justice the Palestinian terrorists who took the Israeli athleteshostage and killed them during the Munich Olympic Games.

In a lecture in New York City he shared information that EVERYAmerican needs to know, but that our government has not yet shared with us.

He predicted the London subway bombing on the Bill O'Reilly showon Fox News stating publicly that it would happen within a week. At the time,O'Reilly laughed, and mocked him saying that in a week he wanted him back onthe show. Unfortunately, within a week the terrorist attack had occurred.

Juval Aviv gave intelligence (via what he had gathered in Israel and the MiddleEast) to the Bush Administration about 9/11, a month beforeit occurred. His report specifically said they would use planesas bombs and target high profile buildings and monuments. Congress has sincehired him as a security consultant.

Now for his future predictions. He predicts the next terrorist attack on theU.S. will occur within the next few months.

Forget hijacking airplanes, because he says terrorists will NEVER try andhijack a plane again as they know the people onboard will never go down quietlyagain. Aviv believes our airport security is a joke - that we have beenreactionary rather than proactive, in developing strategies that are trulyeffective.

For example:

1) Our airport technology is outdated. We look for metal, and thenew explosives are made of plastic.

2) He talked about how some idiot tried to set his shoe on fire.Because of that, now everyone has to take off their shoes. A group of idiotstried to bring aboard liquid explosives. Now we can't bring liquids on board. He says he's waiting for some suicidal maniac to pour liquid explosive on hisunderwear; at which point, security will have us all traveling naked. Everystrategy we have is reactionary.

3) We only focus on security when people are heading to the gates.

Aviv says that if a terrorist attack targets airports in thefuture, they will target at busy times on the front end of the airportwhen and where people are checking in. It would be easy for someone to take twosuitcases of explosives, walk up to a busy check-in line, ask a person next tothem to watch their bags for a minute while they run to the restroom or get adrink, and then detonate the bags BEFORE security gets involved. In Israel, security checks bags BEFORE people can ENTER the airport.

Aviv says the next terrorist attack here in America is imminent and willinvolve suicide bombers and non-suicide bombers in places where large groups ofpeople congregate, i.e.-Disneyland, Las Vegas casinos, big cities (New York,San Francisco, Chicago, etc.) and that it will also include shopping malls, subways in rush hour, train stations, etc., as well as, rural America thistime. The interlands (Wyoming, Montana, etc.).

The attack will be characterized by simultaneous detonationsaround the country (terrorists like big impact), involving at least 5-8 cities, including rural areas.

Aviv says terrorists won't need to use suicide bombers in many ofthe larger cities, because at places like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, they cansimply valet park a car loaded with explosives and walk away.

Aviv says all of the above is well known in intelligence circles, but that ourU.S. Government does not want to 'alarm American citizens' with the facts. Theworld is quickly going to become 'a different place', and issues like 'globalwarming' and political correctness will become totally irrelevant.

On an encouraging note, he says that Americans don't have to beconcerned about being nuked. Aviv says the terrorists who want to destroyAmerica will not use sophisticated weapons. They like to use suicide as afront-line approach. It's cheap, it's easy, it's effective; and they have aninfinite abundance of young militants more than willing to 'meet theirdestiny'.

He also says the next level of terrorists, over which America should bemost concerned, will not be coming from abroad. But will be, instead,'homegrown', having attended and been educated in our own schools anduniversities right here in the U.S. He says to look for 'students' whofrequently travel back and forth to the Middle East. These youngterrorists will be most dangerous because they will know our language and willfully understand the habits of Americans; but that we Americans won't know/understanda thing about them.

Aviv says that, as a people, Americans are unaware and uneducatedabout the terrorist threats we will inevitably face. America still hasonly a handful of Arabic and Farsi speaking people in our intelligencenetworks, and Aviv says it is critical that we change that fact SOON.

So, what can America do to protect itself? From an intelligence perspective,Aviv says the U.S. needs to stop relying on satellites and technology forintelligence. We need to, instead, follow Israel's, Ireland's and England'shands-on examples of human intelligence, both from an infiltration perspectiveas well as to pay attention to, and trust 'aware' citizens to help. We need toengage and educate ourselves as citizens; however, our U. S. government continuesto treat us, it's citizens, 'like babies'. Our government thinks we 'can'thandle the truth' and are concerned that we'll panic if we understand therealities of terrorism. Aviv says this is a deadly mistake.

Aviv recently created/executed a security test for our Congress,by placing an empty briefcase in five well-traveled spots in five major cities. The results? Not one person called 911 or sought a policeman to check it out.In fact, in Chicago, someone tried to steal the briefcase.

In comparison, Aviv says that citizens of Israel are so well 'trained' that anunattended bag or package would be reported in seconds by citizens who know topublicly shout,'Unattended Bag'. The area would be quickly & calmly clearedby the citizens themselves.

Unfortunately, America hasn't yet been hurt enough by terrorism for theirgovernment to fully understand the need to educate it's citizens or for thegovernment to understand that it is their citizens who are, inevitably, thebest first-line of defense against terrorism.

Aviv also was concerned about the high number of children here inAmerica who were in preschool and kindergarten after 9/11, who were 'lost'without parents being able to pick them up, and about our schools that had noplan in place to best care for the students until parents could get there. InNew York City, this was days, in some cases!

He stresses the importance of having a plan, that's agreed uponwithin your family, of how to respond in the event of a terrorist emergency. Heurges parents to contact their children's schools and demand that theschools also develop plans of action, just as they do in Israel.

Does your family know what to do if you can't contact one anotherby phone? Where would you gather in an emergency? He says we should all have aplan that is easy enough for even our youngest children to remember and follow.

Aviv says that the U.S. government has in force a plan, that inthe event of another terrorist attack, EVERYONE's ability to use cell phones, blackberries, etc., will immediately be cut-off, as this is the preferredcommunication source used by terrorists and is often the way that their bombsare detonated.

How will you communicate with your loved ones in the event youcannot speak to each other? You need to have a plan.

If you understand, and believe what you have just read, then you must feelcompelled to send this to every concerned parent, guardian, grandparents, uncles, aunts, whomever. Don't stop there. In addition to sharing this viae-mail, contact and discuss this information with whomever it makes sense to.Make contingency plans with those you care about. Better that you have plans inplace, and never have to use them, than to have no plans in place, and find youneeded them.

If you choose not to share this, or not to have a plan in place, and nothing ever occurs... good for you! However, in the event somethingdoes happen, and even more-so, if it directly affects your loved ones, thenthis e-mail will haunt you forever.

Telling yourself after the fact, "I should have sent this toso and so, but deleted it as so much trash from old so and so, plus, I justdidn't believe it", will not change anything. You were alerted, had thechance to do something, and instead of erring on the side of caution, you choseto disregard, if nothing else, a sensible, valuable warning.
