Position Available: Fay School
ESL Teacher, Grades 7-9
Beginning August 2013
Description: We seek a dynamic and flexible individual who loves teaching and understands how
international middle school children acquire English as a second language. Building on Fay’s
existing ESL program, this teacher will collaborate with colleagues and teach the Grades 7-9 ESL
curriculum. This curriculum is skills-based and incorporates listening, speaking, reading, and writing
in a two year sequence. 115 students reside on campus as part of our Residential Life Program,
about half are international students. This is a full-time, school-year position with benefits. Our
ideal candidate will be excited to reside on campus.
As an independent day and boarding school, we expect teachers to become involved in the life of
the school. Beyond classroom work, teachers serve as advisors to groups of four to six students,
coach or assist in our after-school athletic program, and participate in Fay’s boarding program as
campus residents or off-campus faculty members.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in ESL, education, or a related field. A
master’s degree is strongly preferred, either in ESL or in education. A minimum of 3-5 years ESL
teaching experience is preferred, as is time living abroad. Fay School seeks candidates who will add

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 Supporting the mission, philosophy, and core values of the School
 Demonstrating academic excellence through a working knowledge of Fay’s core curriculum
 Delivering appropriate materials, lessons, support, and assessment of ESL students
 Effectively using academic technology to enhance instruction
 Participating in the Faculty Evaluation Program
 Communicating with parents and colleagues on student progress
 Issuing individualized grades, efforts, and comments for each student at marking periods
 Attending all required meetings of the faculty
 Participating in dorm duty as assigned by the Director of Residential Life, typically two
nights a week and every third weekend
 Assisting in coaching two seasons
