calculate!the!economic!impact!and!job]creation!potential!for!developing!renewable!energy!projects!of!different!scales!within!
Jackson!and!Josephine!Counties.
EWP’s!current!research!links!forest!and!watershed!restoration!activities!to!economic!industries!and!provides!a!preliminary!
assessment!of!the!potential!economic!and!employment!impacts!for!these!activities.!EWP!has!found!that!investments!in!
ecological!restoration!play!a!large!role!in!public!and!private!natural!resource!management!with!projects!ranging!from!stream!
habitat!enhancements!and!fish!passage!to!irrigation!canal!improvements,!riparian!reforestation,!road!decommissioning,!
hazardous!fuels!reduction,!forest!thinning,!and!wildlife!habitat!enhancement.!
To!calculate!the!economic!impact!and!job]creation potential!of!renewable!energy!development!activities,!our!team!will!use
published!research!identified!during!the!renewable!energy!assessment!and!the!U.S. Bureau!of!Economic!Analysis!Regional!
Input]Output Modeling!System!(RIMS)!in!a!two]step!analysis. First,!we!will!categorize!common!renewable!energy!
development!project!types!(solar,!wind,!woody!biomass!to!electricity,!hydropower,!landfill!gas!to!electricity,!organic!waste!to!
electricity,!etc.)!by!the!dominant!economic activity!involved!in!the!project.!Second,!we!will use RIMS!economic!and!

SENIOR POLICY ANALYST – Biomass, legislative policy and market development analysis and
implementation is the focus of current work. That work results in strategies and tactics to promote
adoption of best practice and leading-edge technologies that accelerate appropriate biomass utilization in
Oregon. In January of 2006 Mark completed six years as the State of Oregon’s representative on the 27-
member board of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. Formed in October 1996, the Northwest
