Residency Special Features:   The resident will be trained to care for patients with cardiovascular disease in both the ambulatory and hospital settings. Additionally, residents are expected to participate in the in-house call program; present 1 seminar for ACPE credit; complete 1 research project, presenting the results at the Great Lakes Residency Conference; participate in quality initiatives; deliver at least 2 didactic lectures; participate in Cardiology and Critical Care conferences; and complete 2 publications.

Site Special Features:   The University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago is the largest state owned medical center in Illinois and is located on Chicago's Near West Side. The medical center has been recognized for its advanced electronic medical record with computerized physician order entry. Additionally, state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic equipment is present onsite for diagnostic and interventional catheterization, invasive and non-invasive electrophysiologic evaluation, and echocardiographic, nuclear, ultrafast CT, and MRI imaging of the heart.
